Subject: [YouthConvention] QUESTION AND ANSWER PANELIST
Hello Everyone,
I was reflecting on the conference call from last night as I often do, and I
came up with a question. Are any of the panelists we chose for the question
and ANSER panel parents? It occurred to me that this is the age group that
many people not only go to college to learn what they want to be when they
grow up, but get married and think about starting a family. A blind youth
may be apprehensive about starting a family because of obstacles they see in
raising children without sight. It seems to me that some of our attendees
may be in this predicament and have questions about making formula for a
baby without sight, feeding a baby with a spoon sightless, how to keep an
eye on a child when the eye doesn't properly function, or other parenting
related topics. I feel it would be a good idea to have a person on the panel
that has children and have successfully raised young children with a visual
impairment. It is just a thought that I considered this morning as I was
thinking about what we talked about.
Alicia
