THEME:                                                         Finding Acceptance in your Future With MCB

 

PROPOSED PROGRAMMING LAYOUT

 

GENERAL SESSION                                               9:00 A.M. - 10:30 A.M.

James Hollins will start the General Session with discussing the goals of the conference and taking care of any business that needs to be discussed.

 

Denny huff will introduce the attendees to the programs and services of MCB

 

Matt Ater will speak.

 

BREAK                                                          10:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

 

BREAKOUT SESSIONS                              10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

During these breakout sessions we will have Patti Schonlau, Transition Skills Teacher, from   MSB present a video to the youth, Franklin Johnson, Adaptive Technology Grants Chair, will speak about the adaptive technology grant and demonstrate different devices that aid the blind and visually impaired, and Steve Schnelle, Rehab Teacher with RSB, President of the Missouri guide Dog users, discuss the services offered to dog guide teams and how guide dogs improve the lives of their blind or visually impaired handlers.

 

LUNCH                                                          12:00 P.M. - 1:00 P.M.

We discussed having a volunteer sit with the youth and discuss possible questions they may have relating to MCB, blindness, or what they have heard already. These questions will be presented in a session directly after lunch.

 

QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION      1:00 p.m.  - 1:45 p.m.

This session will give the attendees a chance to get their questions answered.

 

Richard Smith, Director Wolfner Library       1:45 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.

This session will be discussing transitional services Wolfner provides to blind and visually impaired youth.

 

BREAK                                                          2:15 P.M. - 2:30 P.M.

 

CHRISTINE MCDONALD                          2:30 P.M. 3:00 P.M. 

Christine is an inspirational member of MCB and will discuss how she rose from the bottom to overcome challenges and become the wonderful person she is today.

 

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM                       3:00 P.M. - 3:15 P.M.

During this session Dr. Gerald Holt or another member will discuss the scholarship program available to blind and visually impaired college students.

3:15 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
