St. Charles County Council of the Blind September 2011 Newsletter
At the September meeting we had a great time socializing at Joe's Crab Shack before the meeting. It was explained that we will have three programs sponsored by the SCCB to assist our members. The first is the Transportation Committee in which Steve Baker will be the chairperson. The second program is the Adaptive Technology Committee in which Naomi Soule will be the chairperson. The third committee is the Physical Fitness committee in which a chairperson will be voted on in October.
Veva Wolbrecht was nominated as the Resolution representative at the MCB annual convention by laws meeting held on Friday October 14. We voted as a group to approve or pass all of the by laws proposed this year. Too much to write here. Julie Chinn was chosen as our legislative representative and will go to Jefferson City in February.
Naomi Soule wills take over the SCCCB board representative position beginning November 1st.
St. Charles Autumn Garage /Flee Market Sale will be Saturday, September 24 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We will have two spaces outside to sell flea market items, cookbooks etc. We need volunteers to work and to bring items to sell. IF you can help in either capacity please call Julie Chinn at 636-940-0991 or Margie Petrofsky at 636- 240-7048
Monday October 3 will be the next SCCB meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the Delta Independent Living Center. Other places are still being investigated to hold meetings. For directions to the Delta Center call Julie Chinn at 636-940-0991 or Anne Murphy at 314-434-4051.
If you are planning on going to the annual MCB convention October 14-16 please contact Beverly Kaskadden at 636-561-6947 to have arrangements made for your travel expenses. You have had to attend five meeting since November of 2010 in order to receive funding. The group voted on providing $250 per individual and $300 per couple for the convention expenses. If you need to be at the convention Friday morning, October 14, for a special meeting an extra $100 will be given for your third night stay.

The Missouri L mailing list is an open discussion list and is open to anyone who is blind or interested in blindness related issues. Topics are can be anything from legislation issues to recipes. If you know of accessible devices, websites or anything that might be of interest to the list members, please feel free to send the information to the list.

The September MCB Connect will be on Monday the 19th at 7:00 PM. This month we are asking those that are running for one of the offices up for election to join us. We will open the floor for questions to the candidates. The offices that are open for election are:
