News Wire:
Dear John, a beautiful novel
authored by Nicholas Sparks will be the subject of our next meeting in the
romance discussion group.

John Tyree has grown up detached from
substantial relationships. His mother left when he was less than a year
old. his father is unlike him in every way. It is only as the novel
unfolds that John learns just how true this is. Always on the move, active
in sports and surfing, John's only desire is to get through the days
without making any serious or long-term commitment to anything or
anyone.

Slowly, he begins to notice the varied choices lived
by those with whom he went to high school and realizes his life is
on a track to nowhere fast. In an effort to make his father proud and change his
life for the better, he enlists in the Army. that changes not only
John but his ideas and ideals of what he desires for his future.

When
the novel begins, he is looking back on his relationship with Savannah Curtis, a
special ed teacher and volunteer for Habitat For Humanity. We learn at the onset
that John and Savannah will not remain together, that just as he and his father
live completely dissimilar lives, so do they. Savannah lives a life of purpose,
dedication to home and hearth and family. She wants the kids, the white picket
fence, a husband with whom she can share her dreams, build a home and life
together.

After they meet and fall in love, 911 happens and it changes
them profoundly. A new fear walks their world, and it changes their hopes,
dreams, and their future together.

More dedicated to the army, filled now
with greater purpose, John decides to re-enlist, signaling the beginning of the
end for this couple in love.

How much can love survive? Is there a limit
to the strongest love, even though it sings to you in your dreams or wakes you
with a happiness more complete than could be imagined. What does it mean to
truly love another? How much of yourself should be sacrificed to have a happy
loving relationship? Are there barriers in love that cannot be surmounted?
Should you ever give up on love and when? Is there a calling even greater
than love? When you follow another path, is there ever a chance to turn back?
Can a choice be both right and wrong at the same time? What do you do with the
heartache? How do you go on?

John wrestles with these questions. They
fill his nights and days. Is the choice he makes in the end the right or best
one? What would you do if you were in a situation like his.
Please join us
for a discussion of these and other questions. Dear John by Nicholas
Sparks is available from the download site or can be obtained from your
library.
Dear John , Author : Nicholas Sparks, DB63515

I hope to
