<p class=MsoPlainText>I realize not everyone knows exactly how fantasy football
works, so hopefully this helps. A fantasy football league usually consists of<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoPlainText>10-12 players, but the more the better. Each person in
the league picks a name for their team and selects NFL players for their team.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoPlainText>All the members of the league agree on a day where they
come together for the draft. This is when each fantasy team owner picks the NFL
players he or she wants for her team. There are several different ways the
draft can be carried out. We can discuss what will work best for our group once
we know how many people are playing. The draft order is usually determined
randomly to keep it fair. Obviously, the sooner you pick, the better
opportunity you have for getting a better player. You want to pick the players
who will score the most points for your team.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoPlainText>The number of points your fantasy players score is
determined by how well they perform during their actual NFL games. For example,
let's say you have Peyton Manning, the quarterback of the Indianapolis Colts,
on your fantasy team. If he throws four touchdown passes against his opponents
, let's say Houston, that's 24 points for your fantasy team. You would also
receive additional points for the number of yards he passes for during each game.
Let's say in the same game Manning passes for 300 yards. This would usually get
you another 15 points for your fantasy team. Conversely, when bad things
happen, your team loses points. If Manning gets sacked, loses a fumble, and
thows an interception, something like six points would be deducted from his
fantasy score. These same principles apply to every position on your fantasy
team. Your team must have a quarterback, two running backs, three wide
receivers, a tight end, a field goal kicker, and a defense.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoPlainText>The better your players do statistically, the better your
fantasy team does.<o:p></o:p></p>
