<P>I just got some exciting news. I have been working on this for years and after a five year battle got a few audible signals installed in Maryland Heights, U city and Creve Coeur. Some were full APS and others were tone signals. Modot kept batteling me as did the citys but we got a few done. County highway instaleld some tone signals and two APS sadly the tone sigals are still turned way down in the UCity loop which I still am trying to battle. However I wont give up. I did however get great news today. When Mark and I first moved here we decided to start going to city council meetings about two years ago and I managed to hook up with one of the council members in our ward who was on the transportation committee. Through him we made several presentations to city council to the point they were tired of seeing us. At one point I know one woman had enough but continued to fight many emails back and forth. We even went so far as to meet with city engineers and provide numerous funding sources. Our concilmen was also very supportive as he had previously loived in the DC area and was familiar witth the signals so wanted to make Creve coeur a model community for other communites.</P>
<P>It has been a long battle and at times we were just about to give up but his morning I recieved the email below. I know it is long but its worth reading.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal>Good morning Robin,</P>
<P class=MsoNormal> The City of Creve Coeur has been working with MoDOT to identify an intersection on Olive where we can start placing the audio pedestrian signals. MoDOT has suggested the West Oak/Olive location because they have received several requests for that location and the sidewalk system is already 100% ADA compliant. Other location were discussed such as New Ballas/Olive, but were placed on a list of future locations due to the reconstruction of curb ramps and median cut that will be required before the installation of the new pedestrian signals.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal> The city is committed to placing this type of improvement at key intersections in town. Funding has been identified in the city budget to place this equipment at more intersections in the future and this location will provide a good location to start the program. </P>
<P class=MsoNormal> Please let me know of any preferences you may have regarding future locations so we can review with MoDOT and compile a list of important locations that will provide a benefit to the public.</P>

<P class=MsoNormal>This is a big step and we are so happy that it is working out. I know Donna Weidlich is also working on signals in the city for our UWB affilliate and this should be encouragement for anyone working to get these signals. It has been a two year fight as opposed to a five year fight and this time around but never give up. We are lucky as this time around the city engineers have worked with us and the Polaris company to make sure when these signals are installed they are done correclty.</P>
