Newswire:
On our next Books And Beyond, we will spend an hour withSuzanne
Toren.Familiar to many of us as a narrator of talking books, she is a stage
actress too. Known for her facility with languages, Suzanne has a M.A. in
French. Her ability to speak using various accents comes from her
background, she says. Her parents were immigrants and most people she grew
up with spoke with an accent. On the Bard site, you will find one hundred
titles read by her. Toren has read everything, adventure, mystery, suspense,
historical fiction, folk tales, biography, religion, and romance. How does
knowledge of more than one language help in narration? In a career that has
spanned three decades, Suzanne started reading books distributed by the
National Library Service. As audio books increased and became more popular
with the general public, Suzanne started reading for other audio companies.
How did she make this transition? Is reading for them different and how?
With nearly a thousand books to her credit, Suzanne loves narrating and
looks forward to reading for a long time to come. She is a narrator with a
difference. Versatile and talented, she has read it all. I am pleased she
will be with us and hope you will come with questions for this talented lady
who is a huge part of our reading experience. Some infromation about Suzanne
Toren's work on television and audio companies she has worked for appears
below.
