Subject: [leadership] Update on Cosponsorship of Quiet Car Legislation
andCallathon Information

It has been an extraordinary 10 days of success since Legislative Seminar
attendees stormed Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress. I am
excited to report that this week 10 new cosponsors have signed on to
H.R.734, Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 bringing the new number
to an unbelievable 210 . In addition, 2 more senators signed on to the
companion bill, S.841 which brings the total number to 28 cosponsors. The
list of new supporters is below.

Congratulations to one and all who have followed up with their
representatives and senate offices to insure support for this critical
issue.

Please continue to call and write your members about the importance of these
bills.

**Day-Long Callathon**

ON Monday, please call Rep. Henry Waxman's office to urge him as the
Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce to hold a hearing on
H.R.734. The safety and independence of millions of people who are blind or
visually impaired rests squarely on his shoulders. ACB members should make
his office abundantly aware of this fact.

Rep. Waxman's phone number is:

(202) 225-3976

Rep. Waxman's office will begin answering the phones at 9:00 a.m. Eastern.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Best Regards,

Eric
