News Wire:
Heart of The Matter, Emily Giffin's new novel will be the topic of
conversation at our romance discussion on Friday July 16. A new
marriage begins with hope and promise. Nick and Tessa Russo began
theirs trusting that the commitment made to each other on that happy
day would last a lifetime. Wrapped up in dreams and plans for their
future, they entered marriage believing all would be possible with
love and trust as their guide. Prepared for the usual peaks and
valleys of learning to live together, Nick and Tessa Russo learn
firsthand the toll life and change take on marriage.
Happy in her role as wife and mother, Tessa gives up her job to raise
their two children and create a comfortable and happy home for the
husband she adores. As she becomes more involved with the needs and
concerns of her children and friends, Nick is busy working as a
pediatric plastic surgeon.
Burned at an outside barbecue, six year old Charlie and his mother
Valerie come in to Nick's world. Wanting to help Charlie, drawn to
single mother Valerie, he finds himself growing ever closer to her.
Inevitably, Nick and Valerie make a choice to have an affair. Why does
an affair happen? Is attraction to another before it becomes a
physical reality a part of the affair itself? What factors contribute?
In pursuing other interests, does Tessa play a part in Nick's
wandering eye and heart? Are affairs accidents of circumstance or
deliberately chosen and why? In a life filled with work and needs of
children, how could this couple put their marriage first? What warning
signs did they ignore? Should Nick and Tessa remain together? Does an
affair forever damage a marriage? Can trust once lost ever return? How
long should Nick pay for what he has done? Should love forgive all
things?
For a discussion of a timely topic and a book with much to say, join us
