Join VSA Missouri, The State Organization on Arts and Disability, at the Missouri History Museum on Thursday, August 26th at 6 PM, for A Celebration of Artists in Conjunction with the ADA Exhibit.



This free event will include performances and readings by poets DeAnna Quietwater Noriega and Matt Freeman, storyteller Lucy Lockridge, and the music of Michael (Blindcat) McIntire.  Visual artwork by artists associated with VSA will also be on view.



>From his home in the Ozarks, Michael McIntire’s music has taken him throughout the United States. For more than 40 years he has entertained people with blues, country, rock, bebop and bluegrass music. The visual artwork on view will include work by David Kontra of southern MO (www.davidkontra.com) and Janice Atkins of Kansas City, both artists whose work will be featured in a touring exhibit opening October 16th in the RAC Gallery.



Poet Matt Freeman, editor of the recent St. Louis anthology Flood Stage, is well known to St. Louis literary community.  Accompanying him will be story teller Lucy Lockridge and poet DeAnna Quietwater Noriega.



Following the live performances, two Oscar-winning short documentaries: “King Gimp” and “Music by Prudence,” will be shown.



Sign interpreters will be there and the Museum is fully wheelchair accessible.  For further information contact the Museum at 314-746-4599.
