A question was asked at our State Convention whether individuals receiving Supplemental Aid to the Blind and Aid to the Blind Conversion would be entitled to any increase in benefits regarding the Blind Pension litigation as those who are on the Blind Pension roll.
Here's Debbie Greider's response to the question.
Thanks to Bev Armstrong for putting forth the question to Debbie and Debbie's quick response.
Yes. SAB and AB Conversion recipients are all members of the class. To the extent
that BP recipients were underpaid, so were the other class members. So, by way of
example, if BP recipients were underpaid $4.00 a month for the year 2001, so were
all the class members. Everyone who was underpaid will have a claim for each pension
month they were underpaid. If they were enrolled for 12 months in a given year,
they would have 12 pension months of underpayment no matter which program they were
in. If they were enrolled for 6 months, they would have 6 pension months of underpayment
no matter which program they were in. So all program recipients will benefit from
the lawsuit. dg
