What does it take for a new college student to adjust to life away from
home? How can parents help? What problems come up, even for the seasoned
student?
Tonight on Books And Beyond, our guest will be Ann Lempke, professional
counselor at the University of Hawaii. We will answer these and many other
questions.
To participate in the recording of the show, call 218-844-3388 at a little
before 8pm eastern time. When asked for an access code, enter 26657 pound,
and you will enter the conference. We ask that, once the show begins, you
remain muted until it's time for questions from the audience.
Now for a little biographical information about our guest.
Okay, a little biographical information. Public school through 8th
grade, Louisiana School for the Blind through high school, Louisiana
Tech for Bachelors degree in Spanish and Psychology 1973, masters in
psychology from Texas Tech 1975, worked at El Paso Community College
for 30 years in counseling, started disability services program,
obtained doctorate in counseling psychology from New Mexico State
University 1994, became licensed psychologist but my identity is
primarily that of a professional counselor, since I have worked always
as a counselor. Moved here in 2006 starting college counseling career
all over again at Windward Community College on Oahu; my two daughters
are 24 and 26 and for reasons too long to go into now, they both find
themselves living in Wisconsin. I can say without any hesitation and
with total enthusiasm after over 30 years that I absolutely love
working with college students and feel privileged to play a small part
in helping them move forward with their lives.
