Dear Wolfner community,

 

You will find attached  documents from the Wolfner Advisory Council commending the excellent work of Wolfner staff during the recent transition from analog to digital books.

 

Whether we realized it or not, over the last few months, we have played an integral part in a historic event-the nationwide transition from analog to digital format through the NLS. While it might have seemed like simple "extra work" from time to time, I hope that everyone realizes the importance of what has transpired, right here in the state of Missouri.  While other states waited and questioned the outcome, the staff of Wolfner library took the initiative and not only offered the first digital books in the nation to Missouri readers, but continued to provide outstanding digital service by getting books and readers out at a record pace, as well as obtaining flash memory cartridges for duplicating books, successfully implementing the Braille and Audio Reading Download project, and taking on additional digital machines from other network libraries to provide  an extraordinary change in library service to the Missourians unable to read standard printed materials. 

 

It is my greatest pleasure to commend the staff of Wolfner library for their hard work, dedication, and vision in the face of a change that might have seemed daunting to some.  Wolfner Library has once again proven itself to be a leader in our field.  Please join me in offering my sincere congratulations to the staff of Wolfner Library.  Kudos to everyone.
