[Missouri-l] FYI

I need to clear up some rumors that has been circulating within the
membership of MCB.
First of all, yes, it is true that I have called an unofficial conference
call for this evening. This conference is not to conduct business but only
for the purpose of gathering information. I have asked the Executive Board
along with the Personnel Committee and the other elected members of the
board to participate. This includes the three directors and the public
relations officer. Leroy Welch and Beverly Kaskadden however; will not be
able to participate.
The purpose of this conference call is to talk to Mr. Bert
Emmons in his offer to assist MCB in whatever capacity he can assist us.
When I notified him last Saturday that he was not selected as our Executive
Director he sent an email message to myself and several other members
offering his services in whatever area he could help us. I want to speak to
him further about his proposal and ask him how he can assist us, what we
would like for him to do for us, how long we would need him and what he
would charge us. I consulted with our parliamentarian and she informed me
that there was nothing wrong with doing this.
I want us to make wise decisions and the only way to do this is
to gather information in advance of making those decision.
After we gather this information we will present it to the board
in a conference call. I am hoping that we might be able to retain him to
begin some sort of fund raising process for us whether it be in the form of
grant writing or special event organization. He may also be able to help us
with our finances in reworking our 990 or in taking an objective look at our
office procedures. We still have not completely satisfied the Attorney
General in this area, so possibly what Mr. Emmons can provide for us will
take care of that and we will be released by the Attorney General.
The Personnel Committee will continue to search for an Executive
Director and try and find the person that will meet the qualifications you
as members are seeking.
Secondly, I have not been calling the board members that voted
no for the Executive Director and polling them about anything. Nor have I
asked any other person to call them. If someone else called another board
member then they did that on their own, not from my asking them to do so.
Besides, I don't even know how anyone voted for sure. Sometimes those
things can be figured out, but in this case I don't know how anyone voted
except for those that told me.
In closing I would like to encourage you to call me
if you ever have any In closing just let me say this. Anytime anyone has a
question about what is going on, don't ever hesitate to call me. I always
try and return phone calls and answer email messages in a timely manner. As
best as I can remember, no one can say that I haven't returned their phone
call or answered their message. Sometimes we hear rumors and then those are
added to and then blown out of proportion. If you would just come to the
source and ask that person what is going on, then a lot of the discontent
and turmoil within the organization could be avoided.
Thanks to all of you!
