Dear Phyllis,
The message sent to you did not originate from the Missouri L list. It
apparently was sent directly to your email SBC email account. As you are
aware, I responded to you off list, asking you to send me a copy of the
message that offended you. I asked you to send me a copy of the message
including the full message header so I can determine its origination. It
saddens me that this issue has been elevated by your posting of the
offending message to the list. It is apparent that you are passionate about
this issue, but please remember that the Missouri L mailing lists is not
private. Anyone on the Internet can review the entire archive of the
messages for the past three years. Let's work together to promote blindness
issues, not our dirty laundry.
Sincerely,
Beau Barnhart

personal attacks This is the exact wording of the heading of the nasty
E-mail full of false accusations as read to me by my JAWS speech program.

It seems all you have an interest in is throwing a monkey wrench into
anything our president wants to do. You do too much listening to the
grapevine and
it seems to me that you may be the source of your own rumors. Having a
sighted Executive Director is better than none at all or one that doesn't
measure
up and merely accepts his or her pay check. We are mired in a financial
crisis or haven't you noticed. Our president is doing his best to bring this
organization
back on track and continually running up against obstructionists like you.
I urge our representatives to vote yes. And many others share my opinion.

The MCB grapevine is saying that the personnel committee has selected a
sighted man for the position of Executive Director. This move would demean
the
goals of our organization. If MCB board hires a sighted director, it gives
the impression that we poor, stupid blind people cannot run our
organization.
We have worked too many years and too hard to destroy the knowledge of the
abilities and capabilities of blind people that MCB promotes. It would not
give a positive statement to other disability groups, city and state
officials and other blind people. MCB members have always been adamant
about persons
who are blind running our organization. I feel having a sighted E.D. will
lower the esteem of our organization. Talk to your board members and
encourage
them to vote NO! This is my opinion but many others share it.

Where is the list serve moderator when he is needed? The guidelines state
"no personal attacks". I have been attacked with lies and false accusations
for the last 2 years. I have done nothing to hinder the president. His
mistakes are his own. Do only his friends get to violate the list serve
guidelines for their personal attacks? I will not lower my standards to
reply to any other personal attacks so if you want to show your lack of
character and manners by attacking me, go right ahead. Many others and I
know how much time and hard work I have willingly contributed to MCB. I
firmly believe in the mission of MCB and I will continue to work for MCB in
any capacity I can.
