  News - Gay Dogs Can't Dine
  In a truly absurd case of misunderstanding, an Australian man was
  turned away from a Thai food restaurant when one of the waiters
  thought the man said he was bringing in a gay dog.
  Apparently confused about the difference between a gay dog and a
  guide dog, the waiter would not allow the Ian Jolly and his dog,
  Nudge, to enter the restaurant. The matter was brought up with the
  Equal Opportunity Tribunal, who decided that Jolly and his dog had
  every right to be there, that the man even showed his guide dog
  permit, and that they were unjustly turned away. The owner's response
  to the tribunal was equally strange. They claimed that, "The staff
  genuinely believed that Nudge was an ordinary pet dog which had been
  desexed to become a gay dog." How that would even be possible and why
  that would matter are two questions that weren't touched on.
  The tribunal ordered that the restaurant pay Mr. Jolly $1,500, write
  a note of apology, and attend a diversity training course. The
  incident has left Mr. Jolly with a degree of comfort that the Equality
  Tribunal is there to take care of these situations, but he is still
  concerned that something similar may happen in the future.
  While discrimination from future establishments is a possibility, I
  highly doubt that he will encounter other situations where his dog is
  turned away for being assumed gay.
