Now, Anne and all. Yeah, those are some valid points. But, we know the saying, though, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself." So, I remain an optemist.
And, as far as approvals for our Medicaid etc. goes, we know we've got a friend in the Governor's office.
AS for education and welfare or MCB presidency, Anne, you might do pretty well. YOu've got a great sense of direction.

American Cancer Society Cancer Action NetworkDavid,
Oh! I always of course support other disabilities and have several family members with cancer and support that of course but won't be able to do that if I can not have a productive life.
I disagree with you that the legislators will not come after us again. Also, we do not have a total victory as the premiums are not yet determined ...it is not denied or approved. So this is still a possibility.
Probably has to go to court or something. Unless someone knows something else for sure this is the way I understand it.
In doing the premiums that is getting us like on regular Medicaid in a sneaky way.
Will everyone just wake up
At the convention we will need a strong president to lead us through the fight we will have next year. Since this is Denny's last chance to be President.
We all know he did a great job and worked mong and hard hours on this.
Also, we will need a strong Education and welfare chairperson that is able to travel to Jefferson City a lot and talk to legislators in a knowledgeable and friendly way and professional way.
Please look ahead the right now.
Be advised. It is not over yet as more will come to get the blind.

Hi, Elton.
I agree with you. AT least having a voice in other discussions gives folks awareness of our issues. We do realize, though, that the budget considerations this year help form precedent. So, seeing the citizen outrcry over the Medicaid issues for us, it’s less of a chance we’ll see a move next year to take away the benefits. So, I guess I look at this as a both-and approach.

I think the more involved we are with other issues we can agree to support the better. If they try to take Blind Pension Medicaide away again next year it will be nice to have all the support we can get. This year even though we can now technically claim victory was to close for comfort. I believe we need to reach out for more support.

Until the Medicaid is totally resolved I think we should just stick to the issues that effect blind persons and their income.

DeAnna,
Missourians have made it clear that they are ready for change.
On Friday of last week, with the submission of nearly 220,000 Missouri voters' signatures to the Secretary of State, the "Show-Me A Brighter Future" campaign took the necessary step to place our tobacco tax initiative on the Missouri statewide ballot this November. This initiative will help Missouri improve health conditions, reduce smoking rates and increase school funding with $283 million in new revenue annually.
"Show-Me A Brighter Future" is a diverse coalition of Missouri organizations and individuals, led by your American Cancer Society, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), and other educational and health organizations. The coalition has proposed a statewide petition initiative that will help address Missouri's health, smoking and school funding problems through a $.73 tax increase per pack of cigarettes and increased taxes on other tobacco products. Increasing the price of tobacco products is a proven way to decrease smoking rates and will generate an additional $283 million annually in new revenue for Missouri schools and to fund smoking prevention programs.
Look for more information in the very near future about our plans to formally launch the campaign. In the meantime, you can help in the following ways:
Please visit our campaign online and sign up at http://showmeabrighterfuture.com/.

Your American Cancer Society thanks you for your attention to this important initiative. With your help and support, we'll continue to work to make Missouri a healthier place for all residents and visitors!
