Subject: [Education and Welfare] General Arguments Against Medicaid Cuts:
May I suggest we organize and combine our arguments against the Medicaid Cuts and see which ones are most effective? I have a few bellow. Some are questions I hope to open up for discussion because I don't know all the facts and hope to learn more about the situation. So any feedback is appreciated.
There was an argument by Silvey, he said that the Medicaid cuts will place blind folks on a level playing field with other disabilities because their Medicaid was cut also. My argument to that is that others Medicaid was cut not eliminated.
Blind unemployment is one of the highest in the nation over 70%.
College students have other alternatives, they can go to a non state funded college. Blind folks on Health Net don't have other alternatives.
Why can't State Universities be more self sufficient? Tuition is pretty high.
If we come across anyone who is Christian these scriptures may come in handy.
Luke: 31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.
· Mark 2:17 KJV
When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick
· Matthew 14:14 KJV
And Jesus went forth , and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
Jesus did everything in his power to heal the sick. I expect it should set a good example for his followers. I imagine if Jesus was in the House or Senate he would be furious that HB2011 is even being discussed. I didn't see anywhere in the bible where Jesus paid universities. But let me warn you, we should only use scriptures with folks claiming to be Christian and welcomes the discussion. Heck it might be a bad idea all together, who knows.
Thanks,
Elton Thomas
