Hi, Terrie and Mary.

Yep, I like that one. If folks follow and contribute to discussion on list and, timely, on conference calls, we don’t need all the hoopla of the day before presenting our legislative imperatives to the House and Senate. All we need to do is brief on any updates or last minute issues in our afternoon meeting at the hotel.

I think the system that Virginia and I talked about for here on out will lend itself to this. The Legislative Chair will focus on legislative issues and how they affect the blindand our interactions with the representatives. The office will handle the administrative details of packets and mailings and emailings.

I also like the ideqa of doing breakfast on our own—where and when we individually want to before taking cabs to the Capitol. If I hadn’t gone ot the 6:00 AM breakfast at the hotel, I would have worked out and taken a cab to local hole in the wall so I could catch Jeff City’s workaday chatter before bounding over to the Capitol.

All said, it doesn’t take a lot of formality for us to do this stuff. Of course, I must admit I’m not a bigtime formal guy in the first place. AS long as we get the job done, that’s what counts.

I think that is a great idea. I hope next year will be a lot more organized and that the people will have their packets. Actually, instead of wasting precious time and money on the afternoon session, have a phone conference and then hit the state building running. Also, let our people be on their own for their breakfast and get right to work.

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to throw this idea out for next year. I’ve been being drilled at work to increase efficiencies and eliminate waste so this idea I hope will do both and make our visits to the reps more effective.
I think that next year we should assign reps by location. Meaning that we send our reps to certain sections of the building so they won’t have to worry about running from the 1st floor to the 4th floor to make an appointment. This will allow us to spend more time talking about the issues face to face with reps and less time running around trying to find the next room.
So, for example we could have one team do rooms 100-150, another do 150-200 etc.
Thanks,
Elton Thomas
