I admit it’s been about a week since I spoke with Rick Stream’s office, just 
before taking off for DC. At that time, they assured me that he did not 
support the cutting of the Medicaid/State Medical as we know it above the 
poverty level. However, I do know from other calls I’ve made that it seems 
those on the Budget committee, include Stream, have become more tight lipped 
about this issue as if its passage is more inevitable than not.

That is why our continued presence in this discussion is so important. That’s 
why, despite the fact there’s no public testimony on Monday, I feel it 
necessary that some of us show our presence at the Budget committee hearing 
after our session at the Capital Plaza in the afternoon.

AS for it being an election year, I’m not sure if many of these folks 
estimate or underestimate the impact of the disability community’s voting 
bloc. My sense is that it’s not as much a factor as we would like to think.

Disabilities is an area that certain representatives on either side of the 
aisle choose to take up. It’s not an area that one party or another chooses 
to emphasize over the other.

I’ll make sure to give Rick Stream’s office a call on Monday morning before 
oru after I take the train to Jeff City. I, too, want to find out more on 
his exact stance.
