Thanks David. I have the conference call scheduled for Wednesday, February
8 at 7:00 PM. Once you have the proposed positions you would like for us to
take to Jeff City, please post them here so we can be looking them over.

Thanks again,

Subject: [Education and Welfare] progress on Washington, DC and Legislative
Days

All,

Here's a brief update from my conversations with Denny, Virginia, and Deanna
yesterday concerning the plans for Washington, DC and Letgislative Days.

Deanna has offered to schedule appointments and guides for those of us who
are going to Washington. AS many of you know, she is very familiar with the
process of preparing for discussions with our Congressional representatives
and has contacts in some of the Senators' and Representatives' offices. She
will be getting back with me and Ann, with Chris and Denny. Deanna will also
be working with Eric Bridges's office in scheduling the guides that will
assist each one of us at the Capitol on Feb. 28.

When she completes these items, she'll send the info to me to look over. We
who will be going to Washington will conference call on February 7. I
suggest 7:00 PM unless Denny finds a better time.

AS for Legislation Days:
Virginia in the MCB office will get word to everyone as to your State
representative assignments. My thought on visiting these Representatives is
that we we make a priority to speak more in depth with those who have
sponsored the legislation we consider in Jeff City on March 5.

As Judy let me know, HB 1413 is a bill that was drafted, I believe by MGDU.
Rep. Rick Stream is the sponsor for it. We'll certainly make that a
priority.

If you already know your State Senators and representatives, feel free to
contact them. I will be doing this on Monday and setting up appointments for
March 6.

I will also be getting in touch with Judy to discuss the program of
activities for March 5, from 1:00-6:00 PM. One item that Denny and I talked
over was the possibility of inviting the candidates vying for the U.S.
Senate Seat in November. So, we will extend speaking invitations to the
following people: U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, MO Rep. Todd Aiken, John
Brunner, and Sarah Steelman. I will be in touch with all of their offices on
Monday and Tuesday this coming week.

Is February 8, at 7:00 PM a good time for us to meet to approve the bills
for discussing at Jeff City in March?

Well, that is all for now. Any contributions or ideas you all have, please,
let me know. This weekend I will also be sending out bill summaries so that
we get on the same page as to what we will be considering at Legislative
Days on March 5-6.
