Hello Senator Schaefer:

You may remember me.  I wrote to you earlier in the session and told you
about how I was totally blinded in a hunting accident here in Missouri when
I was 14 years old.  I must say that I am totally intrigued concerning your
idea of a level playing field.  So I've decided to take this idea a step
further.  

I would like to challenge you to a game of one-on-one basketball.  The first
thing that will come up is that we are mismatched as the fact is that I am
totally blind and you are fully sighted.  I have, in the past, prayed to my
heavenly Father that my sight would be restored.  This, of course, has not
happened.  So I've decided to take a different tact in leveling the playing
field by praying that you would get shot in a hunting accident and go blind.
Then our basketball challenge would be more fair and balanced.  

Of course, you would have to wait some time for you to adapt to a world of
blindness.  You would of course lose your job and then would turn to the
state for help.  You could apply for the Blind Pension and the medical aid
that comes along with that but you would probably be rejected because I
assume your wife is sighted and would be able to support you.  Of course, in
the real world, you would more than likely be divorced.  That is what
happens to a great majority of couples where one is traumatically blinded.  

Also, I would submit to you that you more than likely have acquired over
$20,000.00 worth of assets that would also make you ineligible to receive
the Blind Pension and the medical benefit.  

Although Representative Ryan Silvey has stated publicly from the House floor
that the singer/song writer/recording artist Stevey Wonder, who just happens
to be black, because of his total blindness, could come to Missouri and
collect the Blind Pension and the medical benefit that goes along with it,
you can tell that by the qualifications required to receive these benefits
will render Stevey Wonder ineligible for them because his first limousine is
probably worth more than $20,000.00.  Just to be fair and balanced, and
keeping our level playing field in mind, the white
singer/songwriter/recording artist Ronnie Millsap and the Hispanic
singer/songwriter/recording artist Jose Feliciano would not be eligible,
either.  

Anyway, I don't think you'll have to worry about getting shot in a hunting
accident.  Of course, it has been reported on the news that former
vice-president Dick Chaney is getting better after his heart replacement.
So if he calls and asks you to go hunting, don't go.  As you know, he has
been known to accidentally shoot people.  

One last question.  Keeping the level playing field in mind, is it true that
Missouri University left $12.3 million lying on the table plus some
television rights when they changed to their new conference?  Isn't that
almost half of what you're taking from the blind medical fund?
